The Flowing Hair Half Dollar started the series in 1794 and ran for two years. In 1796 the Draped Bust Half Dollar took the spot and was minted until 1807. The Capped Bust – Lettered Edge Half Dollar came next and was produced from 1807 to 1836. The Capped Bust – Reeded Edge Half Dollar was produced from 1836 to 1839. The Liberty Seated Half Dollar was produced from 1839 to 1891. The Barber Half Dollar (Liberty Head Half Dollar) came next and was produced from 1892 to 1915. The Liberty Walking Half Dollar was then minted from 1916 to 1947. The Franklin Half Dollar was minted from 1948 to 1963. Lastly came the Kennedy Half Dollar, first in silver in 1964 and then clad from 1965 until today.
