Chronology of the United States Quarter Dollar / Timeline of the US Quarter
The Quarter Dollar was first minted in the United States in 1796. The Draped Bust Quarter Dollar (1796 to 1807). Between 1807 and 1814, there was no coinage of US quarter dollars, then in 1815 production of the Capped Bust Quarter dollar began. This coin was produced from 1815 to 1838. The Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar was minted next, this time from 1838 to 1891. The Barber Quarter Dollar aka the Liberty Head Quarter Dollar came next and was minted from 1892 to 1916. Standing Liberty Quarter Dollar came next and was minted from 1916 to 1930. The current quarter, the Washington Quarter Dollar has been minted from 1932 to date, and was minted in silver until 1964 after which time the business strike of the Washington Quarter Dollar was minted in clad.
